In House Anodisation
Customise your jewellery with our in house Anodisation service
Our highly trained staff can customise any of our titanium or niobium pieces of jewellery an array of beautiful colours through the process of anodisation.
What is anodisation?
Anodisation is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the naturally occurring oxide layer on the metal’s surface. Depending on the thickness of the oxide layer, light is reflected at the viewer at different wavelengths creating the appearance of vibrant colour.
Are there any negative side effects associated with the long term wear of anodised jewellery?
No - anodisation is completely non toxic and will have no adverse effects on the health of you or your piercing. Over time the colour will fade as the oxide layer wears down due to environmental exposures such as shampoo. This may take several months or years depending on the exposure.
How quickly can I get my piece anodised?
Anodisation usually takes place at the end of the working day, so our turnaround time is usually about 24 hours. This can be delayed due to staff holidays or sickness so please plan ahead if you require your jewellery for a special occasion.
Can I be pierced with anodised jewellery?
Absolutely! We’d even recommend it. As the average turnaround time for custom anodisation orders is 24 hours, we will need to see you in the shop prior to the day of your appointment so we can measure you for the appropriate size and take a non-refundable £10-£20 deposit for the appointment. Your deposit will be deducted from the piercing total at the time of your appointment, failure to turn up for the appointment will result in the loss of your deposit.
How much does this service cost?
We do not charge for anodising, just for the jewellery used, however there may be a small charge for intricate designs or larger pieces.
Can I bring my existing jewellery from home to be anodised?
No, for hygiene purposes this service is only available for new purchases within the studio.
